Making Lemonade at Homeland!

Ok, I know a disaster when I see one.

I saw one today.

The Think Tank meeting I chaired was pure disaster from several points.  First of all:

1.  We have outgrown the room.  It was crowded and over-heated.
2.  The Internet was slow.  The many quick minds in the room were waaaay ahead of the screen!
3.  The IDX link was unsatisfactory.  IDX is really what the buyer wants!
4.  Learning levels were too varied.  Yep—lotta top level computerized thoughts going on in the room!
So, in total frustration, I decided to put gas in my car. I am certain you fail to see the link--but here it is:  I needed a getta-away!   Yes, the gas station at Homeland, a place where I see old friends who don’t want to talk real estate, a place I can eat a bag of Corn Nuts ( http://www.planters.com/cornnuts/ )and drink a Coke ( http://www.coca-cola.com/index.jsp )!   Here, no on tell me how "un-nutritious" that lunch is for me! I  waited for an extra 10 minutes to get my change—no sweat!   The Homeland gas station is my safe place—today!
As I drive away, I smell a little like gasoline, no problem—it will evaporate, right?  Then I suddenly realize I am not bothered by the fact that traffic was so congested, I went opposite the direction I needed to go!  Amazing, the smell of gas, congested traffic, driving the wrong way and I feel some peace!
Hmmmm.

Do you think, just maybe, agitation and frustration are just a state of mind?  Now, if you are like me, or like my friend Adam, you may not have a state for your mind!  Let’s just say, for the sake of this conversation (yes, I know it is a soliloquy), my mind takes a different view of today’s Think Tank.  Maybe, things I considered "issues" really had value!

I am just saying, ‘cause somebody’s gotta:
Reality is what you believe to be true.
For instance, let’s take another look at this morning’s Think Tank:

1.  We have outgrown the room.  You are kidding!  This is great news.  The more bodies we have, the more signs we have.  The more signs on the ground, the bigger our market share!  Bigger Market Share translates into bigger cash flows coming our way!  Good Golly Miss Molly—we only started with 7 people!    Finding a bigger room will be easy and pleasurable!
2.Slow Internet!  Isn’t it something that our entire business world has expanded beyond our driving abilities, and we complain about a slow ‘net connection?  On second thought, I think it is wonderful we have people in the room thinking faster than we can connect!  Might be a little frustrating but as they say "it's all good!"                                                                                                     3.  The IDX link is unsatisfactory.  Good news!  It is an easy fix and it can be done by people smarter than I!  They only need my passwords, not my assistance!  Hallejah!
4.  Learning levels were too varied!  How did I ever perceive this to be a problem?  I am so happy there were people smarter than I am in the room!  That “smartness” possessed by others will become the solution to my problems.  Those really smart people have now identified themselves as my new “go to” people.
What a great think tank!  What a glorious day!

May I suggest Homeland, if you need a safe place?
